Course Description
A study of the various leadership functions and management styles necessary to work effectively within the professional industry of agriculture. Specific emphasis will be placed on resume building, interview skills, and team work.

Textbook Requirements
Recommended texts will be announced in class as needed for assignments.

Course Prerequisites
Twelve hours of Agriculture.

Course Format and Participation Requirements
The format for this course includes scheduled assignments and deadlines, offline reading assignments and projects, online readings and participation using web pages, email, discussion boards, and chat. The course includes scheduled online quizzes. The course also requires some scheduled face-to-face meetings as indicated below. In addition, students are required to interview two Agriculture leaders in their communities. Students will be required to come to campus to take a final exam.

On-campus or Face-to-Face Meeting Requirements
There will be one on-campus meeting at the end of the semester. The date of this meeting will be announced in class and posted in WebCT.

Effort Expected
This is a 3-credit-hour course. You should expect to work 3 to 4 hours per week for each credit hour.  To be successful in this course you should expect to spend about 10 hours a week on readings, assignments, discussions, and other activities. This estimate is for the fall and spring semesters; if the course is offered during the summer course, more time per week may be necessary.
