Second language assessment and development stressing classroom situations to teach second language acquisition. This course will focus on factors that affect ESL/Bilingual students. Formal and informal assessment, development and assessment of literacy and biliteracy and planning and adapting are topics that will be addressed.Textbook Requirements

The format for this course includes scheduled assignments and deadlines, off-line reading assignments and projects, on-line reading and participation using web pages, email, discussion boards and chat. The course includes scheduled on-line quizzes and exams.On-campus or Face to Face Meeting Requirements
There will be no face-to-face meetings for this course.Course Assessment
Assignments will include: journal article response, chapter summary response, children’s story, and an assessment project linked to the ESL lesson. Quizzes and the final exam will be worth 400 pts.
Total (assignments and exams) 1000 pts. 900-1000 (90-100%) = A 800-899 (80 - 89%) = B 700 -799 (70 - 79%) = C 600-699 (60 - 69%) = D 599 and below = F Technical Requirements for the Course
Other than the minimum technical requirements for any course, students will need access to a video camcorder.Before the Course Begins
