EPS 380 Educational psychology is a self-paced, content course. Students read a survey textbook in educational psychology, perform related homework exercises, and read supplemental materials. The textbook is Robert Slavin’s “Educational Psychology”. Theory and Practice, 6th edition published by Allan and Bacon. It is a good idea to obtain the textbook prior to the beginning of our class.The course operates on the WebCT platform. Email functions are conveniently provided through WebCT. The course and the current syllabus will not be available until a few days after the first official day of classes for the university. If you experience difficulty logging into the course, do not panic. The course may not have been fully loaded or your account entered. Please wait till Wednesday to make inquiries.
If, after a few days you are still having problems, you may contact Andra Floyd at 936-468-1919. You do not need to contact me about assignments or related issues until you have successfully entered the course and thoroughly read the course syllabus. Please follow the steps below under "Before the Class Begins" in order to successfully obtain your WebCT ID and Password and get your WebCT ID and Password. You can NOT view course material without logging your WebCT ID and Password.
Once you have obtained your WebCT ID and Password, order your textbook, then log on to the course by going to the WebCT Course Logon page (see links below). All correspondence for the course will be within the WEBCT environment. Once you have successfully logged on please send me a WebCT e-mail to let me know you have successfully logged on to the course.
Course Assessment
The course is divided into eight units. Students must pass a set of online mastery tests over the eight units. Each unit of study has its own set of study objectives. Unit tests are made directly from these objectives. Students also can get online tutoring through the Chat room. In addition, students participate in a discussion board on some of the liveliest topics in education today.Technical Requirements for the Course
Other than the minimum technical requirements for any course, students will need a CD-ROM drive, PowerPoint software, etc.Before the Course Begins
Complete the Getting Started area of sfaonline. Register and pay for the course just as you would any other SFA course. As soon as you are registered, please send an email message to the instructor. Carefully read and complete all steps of Getting a myCourses Username and PIN. F-1 Visa Holders
