Course Description
Management philosophy; functions of management; behavioral approaches to management; including the impact of cultural diversity.   Presentation of management as a discipline and as a process.

Textbook Requirements
Hellreigel, Jackson and Slocum, Management: A Competency-Based Approach, 10th edition,  Thompson South-Western.

Course Prerequisites
Junior standing.

Course Format and Participation Requirements
The format for this course includes scheduled assignments and deadlines, lecture material, text and article readings, group and individual presentations, and participation using web pages, email, discussion boards, and chat. The course includes scheduled online quizzes and exams. The course also requires two scheduled face-to-face meetings as indicated below.  All exams are online except the final, for which students will be required to come to campus.  To be successful in this course, the typical student should plan to spend at least 10 hours per week working on this course.

On-campus Meeting Requirements
First class (introduction) and final class (final exam).

Course Assessment
Student performance will be measured through quizzes, examinations, written assignments, discussions, and project presentations.  Other types of evaluation mechanisms may be employed at the discretion of the professor.

There are no requirements other than the minimum technical requirements.
