Course Description
Formulation and implementation of strategy in the organization, emphasizing the integration of decisions in functional areas.

Textbook Requirements
Dess and Lumpkin, 2006.  Strategic Management: Creating Competitive Advantages, 3rd edition,  McGraw-Hill/Irwin.

Course Prerequisites
Completion of all business core courses and senior standing.

Course Format and Participation Requirements
The format for this course includes scheduled assignments and deadlines, lecture material using power point presentations with accompanying audio, online simulation team exercise, and participation using web pages, email, discussion boards, and chat. The course includes scheduled online quizzes and exams. The course also requires two scheduled face-to-face meetings as indicated below.  All exams are online except the final, for which students will be required to come to campus.  To be successful in this course, the typical student should plan to spend at least 10 hours per week working on this course.

On-campus Meeting Requirements
First class (introduction to simulation exercise and team selections) and final class (team presentations and final exam).

Course Assessment
Student performance will be measured through examinations, case analyses, project reports, and project presentations.  Other types of evaluation mechanisms may be employed at the discretion of the professor.

Technical Requirements for the Course
Other than the minimum technical requirements for any course, students will need access to a CD-ROM drive and Real Player software to listen to the lecture audio and PowerPoint software to view the lecture presentations.

Before the Course Begins
