Course Description
Four hours online didactic. Study of the effects of the pathological processes and the compensatory mechanisms on normal physiological functioning.  

Textbook Requirements
Huether, S. & McCance, K. (2008).  Understanding pathophysiology.  (4th. ed.). Mosby: Elsevier.

Online package as required. Students will be required to purchase an access code in addition to the textbook. This access code will usually be packaged with the textbook but, in some cases, may be purchased separately.

Course Prerequisites
Completion of BIO 238 and BIO 239. Prerequisite or corequisite: BIO 308 or BIO 309.

Course Format and Participation Requirements
The format for this course includes scheduled assignments and deadlines, offline reading assignments, online readings and participation using web pages and email. The course includes scheduled online quizzes and exams.  To be successful in this course, the typical student should plan to spend at least 12-15 hours per week working on this course.

On-campus or Face-to-Face Meeting Requirements
None. 

Course Assessment
Module quizzes and a comprehensive final exam will be used to determine the course grade.

Effort Expected
This is a 4-credit-hour course. You should expect to work 1 to 3 hours per week for each credit hour.  To be successful in this course you should expect to spend about 4 hours a week on readings, assignments, discussions, and other activities. This estimate is for the fall and spring semesters; if the course is offered during the summer course, more time per week may be necessary.
